A STOURBRIDGE headteacher has been charged with making indecent images of a child more than a year after he was arrested as part of an inquiry into alleged online child sexual exploitation.
Ross Workman, who was suspended from his role as headteacher at Oldswinford CE Primary School back in November 2014, was this week charged with six counts of making an indecent photograph or pseudo photograph (image made by computer graphics which appears to be a photograph) - after a police investigation lasting more than a year.
Mr Workman was suspended immediately after his arrest by detectives from West Midlands Police’s Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team on November 3 2014.
Letters were sent to parents at the school informing them of the investigation and police have stressed there has been no evidence to suggest there has been any inappropriate contact between the teacher and pupils at the school.
Councillor Ian Cooper, Dudley's cabinet member for children’s services, said Mr Workman resigned from his post in January last year and was no longer employed by the authority.
The 50-year-old teacher, from Orwell Close, Norton, is due to appear at Dudley Magistrates Court on February 3.
