A PEDMORE club which is due to celebrate its 50th anniversary next year is getting set for its first event of the new season.

Pedmore Men’s Club will meet for the first time in the 2015-16 season on Thursday September 24 at the cricket club’s pavilion.

The club currently boasts about 50 members who meet once a month for a relaxed chat, usually over a drink, and listen to talks on a wide range of subjects by visiting speakers.

This month’s speaker who will be opening the new season is Alan Hall with a talk on ‘Universe of Stone – the Building of a Medieval Cathedral’.

John Homer, club member, is urging local male residents – of any age – to attend this month’s meeting with a view to joining the club.

He said: “Our committee organises a number of social events during the year and are already planning a celebration for the club’s 50th anniversary in the 2016–17 season.

“We always welcome visitors to our meeting, so why not come along at 7.30pm for an 8pm start to see if you’d like to join!”
