STOURBRIDGE residents are encouraged to shop locally as part of Small Business Saturday.

A number of independent shops and businesses, including The Coffee Collective in Stourbridge High Street, have signed up to be part of the initiative on Saturday December 6 which aims to get people shopping in their local towns.

To ensure it proves a success, Dudley Council is suspending parking charges on all of its pay and display car parks in Stourbridge and across the borough on the day and on the final shopping Saturdays before Christmas (December 13 and 20).

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, Dudley's cabinet member for transport, said: “We know times are tricky for many, so we are doing all we can to help local people and businesses over the festive season.

“I hope residents back local companies by shopping in their neighbourhood on Small Business Saturday and that our free parking scheme benefits everyone in the borough.”
