A NEW Dudley-based charitable organisation is aiming to bring together families from different cultures when it launches this evening.

Black Country Integration Project has been funded by the Big Lottery as part of the Black Country Families Project, which matches together families from different cultures based on the ages of their children and then funds and organises a day out for them to get to know each other.

Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Steve Waltho, will host the project’s official launch in the Mayor’s Parlour on tonight.

Rachael Taylor, founder and chairman of the project, said: “We believe that when people spend time together and get to know each other, they often realise that they have more things in common than they have differences.

“We hope that some of the families we match together will stay in touch with each other and become friends after their day out.”

The project was awarded £10,000 of funding from the Big Lottery, and has been supported by Dudley Councillors Richard Body and Shaukat Ali, as well as local faith organisations.

Stourbridge resident Rachael added: “The support that this project is receiving from different areas of the community demonstrates that there is a real desire for people from different cultures to integrate in Dudley.”
