STOURBRIDGE'S Ryemarket car park will be closed to shoppers this weekend while urgent repair work is carried out on the access ramps.
The Dudley Council owned car park, off the ring road, will be closed from 6pm on Saturday July 18 until 6am on Monday July 20 - while work is carried out on Sunday July 19 to waterproof the ramps which provide the only access to the facility.
Councillor Hilary Bills, Dudley's cabinet member for environmental services, said: “This essential maintenance will ensure the continued safety of users of the car park and I hope local people will bear with us while we carry out the work which is scheduled to be delivered during the car park’s least busy times.”
Council bosses say the work needs to be carried out in the summer while conditions are warmer and drier due to the specialist nature of the job.
Earlier preparations have already been carried out, during the week after 7pm to minimise disruption.
