POSTMEN and woman at Stourbridge’s delivery office were thanked for their hard work during the busy festive period by the town’s MP this week.

Margot James MP visited Stourbridge Delivery Office to see first-hand the operation of delivering Christmas post and to pass on season’s greetings to staff.

Ms James was shown around the office by delivery office manager Graham Dutton, and was introduced to the postmen and women who are pulling out all the stops to sort and deliver mail across the area during the Christmas period.

The Tory minister also got stuck in and kindly lent a hand at the customer service point, giving out parcels to customers.

Some customers calling early to collect items were surprised to be served by their local MP, but they were reassured to see she was being closely supervised by Dee, the experienced and efficient employee who runs the customer service point.

Ms James said: “At no other time is the hard work and dedication of postmen and women clearer than during the festive period.

“I thank them for the extraordinary lengths they go to ensure Christmas cards and presents are delivered to loved ones on time, and for all they do year-round.”

Mr Dutton added: “It was a pleasure to show Margot our Christmas operation and to hear her kind words of encouragement and support.

“We are extremely proud of our postmen and women for all their hard work during the festive season and for continuing our proud history of delivering Christmas mail.”

Today (Thursday, December 22) is the last date recommended for posting via special delivery for post to arrive before Christmas day.
