MEMBERS of a Stourbridge church are getting set for a marathon of biblical proportions with a restoration read-a-thon.
Our Lady and All Saints Church, New Road, will be the venue for a non-stop sponsored bible reading which is expected to take four days to complete.
The church is teaming up with Stourbridge Rotary club to organise the event which will get under way at noon on Sunday July 8.
Father Pat McKinney, from the church said: "Parishioners have responded generously with their time in supporting this event, many volunteering to read through the night or in the early hours of the morning.
"All parish groups, from senior citizens to the staff and pupils at St Joseph's Catholic School are involved."
The church will be celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2014 and funds raised during the bible reading event will help to pay for repairs and restoration of buildings and the grounds.
The landmark church was designed in a gothic style by Edward Welby Pugin and contains a stained glass window by the famous Birmingham firm Hardman and Company.
