MARATHON runners from Black Country running clubs have been celebrating worthy finish times and fundraising efforts.

Stourbridge Running Club was well represented at the London Marathon on Sunday – with runners raising more than £8,720 for charity collectively.

Andy Aston led the team home in 3-01, finishing 1416 out of 35,000 taking part.

He was followed by Louise Collins in 3-19, then Tony Warner 3-28, and Dawn Humphries 4-31 who ran for breast cancer research and raised £2,300.

She was followed by Sarah Oakley in 4-38, raising £3,170 for breast cancer, Lucy Aston 4-49, Andy Bernasconi 4-55 and Sarah Evans 5-16, who collected £1,250 for a charity called MACS.

Julie Martin clocked 5-27 while raising £500 for bowel cancer while Neil Whitehouse, 5-29, obtained £1,500 for Action Heart.

Meanwhile runners from DK Running Club in Wall Heath were also out in force at the event.

Kevin Duckworth was first back in 2-53 and raised £1,700 for both Mary Stevens Hospice and Action Heart.

He was followed by Matt Biggs in 2-57, Heather Fisher 3-08 and Richard Tonks 4-18 who collected £640 for LUPUS UK in his first marathon.

Dave Garbutt clocked 4-40 and collected £1,700 for Sense, while Ian Corns came in at 4-44.

Gina Collins was timed at 5-00-03 while obtaining over £1,000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Debbie Richards clocked 5-20 and collected more than £1,000 for Mary Stevens Hospice and the Midlands Air Ambulance, while Chandrika Patel finished in 5-42 while raising £4,400 for charity.

DK runners will again be putting on their road racing shoes and raising more cash for charity at the DK10K - one of the biggest mid-week road races in the Midlands - taking place next Wednesday (May 1).
