DEDICATED researchers are appealing for people in Kingswinford and Wall Heath to help them trace details of soldiers who died in World War One and Two.

Members of the Wall Heath and Kingswinford War Memorial Group want to publish a book of remembrance next year - but are struggling to identify some soldiers.

Joy Marshall confirmed: “There are still a few men we’re trying to research but they’re becoming a bit of a mystery.

“We want to produce a biography of each man and possibly a photo if people can help”.

The group are trying to trace details of W Holden from World War Two and W Deeley, W S E Southall, W Wilkes, J T Williams and S Willetts from World War One.

“Our aim is to put stories to the names of those men who gave their lives and publish a detailed book for the villages and its people.”

All the names appear on Kingswinford War Memorial, but little is known of them. If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Joy Marshall on 07739 572121.

The group will be meeting at the Church of the Ascension Hall on Dudley Road, Wall Heath, this Saturday (June 29) which coincides with Wall Heath Fair and Armed Forces Day.
