KEWFORD Eagles has donated kit and footballs to the RAF’s Taking Football to Africa Appeal.

Kit from the Wall Heath based club has been handed out to youngsters at Kibagare Good News Centre in Kibagare slum in Nairobi, Woodard Langa Langa School in Gilgil and Kibera Celtic in Kibera slum in Nairobi.

And more will be flown out in October.

Lynn Boleyn, charity trustee and vice chairman of Kewford Eagles, said: “This is not the first time that we have donated kit to other countries - we have donated football strips and football boots to a charity in Ghana and we will be making another donation shortly to Faith Hope Football, a charity set up by ex West Bromwich Albion player Darren Moore, for youngsters in some of the most poverty stricken areas of India, Uganda and The Sudan.

“We are really glad to be able to help out those less fortunate than ourselves and to be able to play a small part in making people in places like Nairobi, Uganda and The Sudan so happy with the supplies we are able to give to them.”

Based at RAF Shawbury, the Taking Football to Africa Appeal - which was set up by Squadron Leader Neil Hope in 2006 - has, to date, distributed almost 65,000 items, including 27,000 football shirts, to 42 countries worldwide.
