A LOVE of Scooby Doo led to a medal win at a nationwide skills competition for a Black Country nail technician.
Jodie Rock, who studied at Stourbridge College, won a silver medal at the WorldSkills UK Competition for Nail Art at The Skills Show at Birmingham’s NEC on November 16.
The 29-year-old sales advisor and part time nail technician at Nail Envy in Wollaston said: “I’m so proud to have come away with this medal.
“The competition theme was mysteries and having loved Scooby Doo when I was younger, I thought I could impress the judges by coming up with something a bit different – and it paid off.”
Jodie, from Halesowen, spent around three hours producing the nail art on her sister, Sianne, aged 46, which included images of Scooby and his Mystery Machine friends decorated in psychedelic colours echoing the cartoon series.
Jodie, who hopes to become a full-time nail technician, may now go on to join a national team that represents the UK at WorldSkills in Sao Paulo, Italy, in 2015.
The WorldSkills Competition takes place every two years in cities around the globe and is the largest international skills competition.
