The members held their monthly meeting at Stourbridge Institute on 19th May which was chaired by John Knight.

He opened the meeting by welcoming both existing, new members and visitors, and said that the speaker for the night was Harry M Scharf. The President Eric Southall addressed the meeting and said that once again The Presidents Plant Sale had been extremely successful, so much so, that due to the generosity of members donating a large variety of plants, an additional Sunday sale would be held. He said that the Guild was most grateful to all who supplied plants and helped with the staging and setting up. The amount for the first Sunday was £572.20 and the final total will be donated to the Air Ambulance Service. Jim Baker Social Secretary once again reminded members about the visits to Hidcote , an evening one to Lower Hall Worfield and also to Wisley in August. The first prize winners in the monthly show were: 1 spring cabbage D Wells; 3 sticks rhubarb E Southall; Bunch of spring onions J Knight; Spring pot plant Langley; Bunch of spring flowers A Greathead; 1 chocolate sponge M Hodgin; 6 flap jacks M Hodgin. John Knight closed the meeting, and hoped everyone had enjoyed the evening.

The next meeting will be held on the 16th June, which will be a talk entitled “Garden Birds Spring and Summer” by our old friend David Tideswell, who always delights us with the antics of his feathered friends. We meet on the third Monday of each month at The Stourbridge Institute at 7 for 7.30p.m, when all visitors are welcome.
