A WOLLASTON hairdresser is challenging his staff to a bake off in aid of a Stourbridge breast cancer charity.

Tim Scott-Wright, owner of The Hair Surgery in Meriden Avenue, is transforming the salon into The Cake Surgery for one week only.

Staff will watch the Great British Bake Off for tips and then cook up a storm in the kitchen and present their offerings for clients to judge between October 21 to 25.

Clients will give a minimum donation of £1 to the cake that they think is the best and at the end of the week, the person whose cake raked in the most cash will be crowned the winner.

All proceeds will go the the salon's nominated charity, Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer.

Mr Scott-Wright added: "We can’t predict how much this will make – I guess it depends on how much our clients like cake. But we will match the amount given by clients, so doubling the donation to the charity.

“We are all madly perfecting our bakes whilst also trying to diet a little before cake week. It is a great cause and we wanted to do something that both the staff and the clients would find fun whilst raising money."
