The members held their monthly meeting at Stourbridge Institute on May 18, which was chaired by Adam Greathead .

He opened the meeting by announcing some sad news, John McFee who was a member of the guild, had passed away. The members were asked to observe a minutes silence.

The president Eric Southall addressed the meeting and said the presidents plant sale was held yesterday on May 17 and raised £520.88, proceeds to Crossroads Dudley. Due to the amount of plants donated, a further plant sale would be held on May 24.

Eric thanked all who had donated and also purchased, he also remarked on the excellent produce brought along for the monthly show.

Adam then introduced the speaker for the evening Paul Green whose talk was entitled “Green Leaves”.

The plants he had brought with him were for sale after his talk, and many members took this opportunity to purchase some very attractive plants.

Adam thanked Paul for a most interesting and informative talk, and the members responded in the usual manner.

The first prize winners in the monthly show:One spring cabbage Eric Southall; Three sticks of rhubarb Eric Southall; Vase of spring flowers Una Langley; Chocolate Sponge with chocolate butter filling Anne Robinson; Six pieces of Flapjack Anne Robinson.

Adam Greathead closed the meeting, wished everyone a safe journey home, and hoped everyone had enjoyed the evening.

The next meeting will be held on June 15.

The speaker will be Dave Morgan and the talk is entitled “I’m Not Much Good At Gardening” a light hearted talk about Dave’s Bromsgrove garden.
