A COLOURFUL Labour Wollescote councillor’s day of reckoning is approaching when he discovers if his constituents have demanded his hair be dyed true Tory blue.

Cllr Richard Body come up with his hair raising plan to get cash for St Peter’s Church and Homer Hill Park and plenty of people have already voted in a poll to pick which colour to dye his hair.

The vote closes on Friday and on Saturday Cllr Body will know whether he will have to dye his hair yellow, green, red or blue.

However, Cllr Body will only have the indignity of sporting the colours of the Liberal Democrats, Tories or Green party for one week as he will be shaving off on Saturday April 13 at St Peter’s Church, Cradley, at 11.30am.

Cllr Body, who lives in Wollescote but represents Cradley, said: “Everyone is welcome to view me having my hair shaved off and buy a cuppa and cake to help raise funds for our park and church.

“There is not a proper election this year so I thought it would be a fun way to raise money for two very special Cradley causes.

“People can just donate if they miss the voting date as all money raised will go towards paths on Homer Hill Park and the children’s orchard at St Peter’s Church.

“The choice is ruby red, banana yellow, royal blue or green grass and people can vote on slips, it costs £2 a vote, and people can vote as many times as they like.”

He added: “I know we are going through tough economical times at present and I promise every penny raised will be spent in Cradley.”

“St Peters Church and Homer Hill Park have a long standing history here in Cradley and with the help of your donated money, I know the funds will be put to good use, helping all of us.”

He added: “Can I thank everyone who has already donated. Donations can be dropped off at my house in Wollescote or St Peter’s Church.”

Voting slips are available in stores across Cradley, St Peters Church, Cradley Labour Club, the Laurels club, Cradley CE School, Colley Lane Primary School, Cradley Community Centre or available from Richard in person.
