FIRE fighters are at the scene of a house fire in Wollescote caused by a lightning strike.
The incident began just before 3pm today (Saturday) in Oakfield Road during the violent storms which affected the Stourbridge area this afternoon.
Four fire engines and a hydraulic platform were sent to the scene and two homes were evacuated after a blaze broke out in a roof space.
One house suffered fire damage to its roof and smoke damage to the rest of the house while an ajoining house suffered minor damage.
Lightning is believed to have struck an ariel on one of the semi-detached houses which was empty at the time.
A female was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and anxiety but not thought to have required hospital treatment.
Fire crews will remain on the scene well into the evening making the roof safe and covering a large hole in the roof of the building.
