POLICE are appealing for witnesses to the crash in Wollescote yesterday morning (March 15) which left a teenage girl with a serious head injury.

The 16-year-old was hit by a Vauxhall Meriva just after 8am at the junction of Wollescote Road and Hodge Hill Avenue.

She remains in a serious condition in hospital after suffering serious head injuries in the smash.

West Midlands Police officers said they have spoken to the driver of the Meriva, who stopped at the scene, and the road was closed for most of the morning while specialist accident reconstruction officers tried to piece together what happened.

Sergeant Adam Green, from the Regional Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A number of witnesses have already come forward, but I would appeal to anyone else who may have seen the incident to contact us to help us establish exactly what happened.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 and quote incident number 357 15/3.
