The Far Right BNP candidate standing in Cradley and Wollescote ward has hit back at Cllr Richard Body's claim the party is 'racist and evil'.
In a statement to the News Robert Weale blamed the media for the widespread belief that the BNP is racist.
He said: "It is my understanding that most LibLabCon members wouldn't even look at BNP website or it's policies because they have been so absolutely brainwashed that we are monsters, it is out of ignorance and the continued media bias that we are described as evil and racist.
"I can honestly say I joined British National Party because of it's policies not because it wanted to do something about immigration. "Being in the BNP, I am reminded of the strength, wisdom and courage that many people are capable of, especially the most humble, this gives me hope."
Blaming members of the National Union of Journalists for the BNP's unpopularity he said: "Too many people are afraid to enquire about BNP because of the NUJ's treatment of BNP members and their party I'm sad to say."
