AN array of nature-inspired artwork created by the studio artists at Wordsley’s Red House Glass Cone is on display this month, against the backdrop of a handmade forest.

The Wood for the Trees exhibit showcases the hidden talents of the cone’s 11 onsite artists and visitors will feel like they are in the great outdoors as the floor is scattered with autumn leaves, branches and pine cones.

Innovative pieces on display include three full-size trees made out of black bin liners with branches that unfurl to the ceiling, a parliament of ceramic owls nesting among pine cones, delicate dandelion inspired jewellery, glass etched with leaves and butterflies and various acrylic and mixed media artwork.

Many of the pieces on display are for sale, and commissions are welcomed.

The artists will also be on hand to discuss a number of classes and workshops for beginners, which will start in the New Year.

Councillor Tracy Wood, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “The Wood for the Trees exhibition is a real showcase of their artistic talents and ambitions and I’m sure that visitors will be impressed and inspired by what they see.”

The exhibition runs daily until December 1, from 10am to 4pm.

Admission is free.
