FAMILIES are set to have a frightfully good time at the Red House Glass Cone this half term as Wordsley’s top attraction hosts lots of Halloween fun and games.

A free drop-in spooktacular trail for children aged three and over will be held throughout the site between tomorrow (October 24) and Sunday November 1.

As part of the trail, young explorers will be able to watch magical glass makers conjure ghosts and pumpkins from liquid glass in the studio each day from noon until 3.30pm.

There will also be other activities which do incur a charge including on Monday (October 26), children aged eight and over can enrol at the ‘mythical monster horrible school’ from 9.30am to 3.30pm for a whole day of activities. Register by calling 01384 815571.

Saz’s Ceramics will be running pottery workshops from 11am to 12.30pm and from 2pm until 3.30pm from Tuesday to Friday. The themed sessions will include pumpkin tea light holders, haunted houses and spooky charms and can be booked by calling 07966 514766.

The magical no tricks just treats event will run this weekend from 10am to 4pm.

Families will be able to get hands on with Dudley Zoo’s Creature Feature including reptiles, arachnids and creepy crawlies. Wizard Ron will be entertaining and inspiring with his magic show and children can try their hands at spooky crafts.

Hour long fused glass spook sessions will run on Thursday (October 29) at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. The creative class is suitable for children aged five and over and must be booked in advance by calling 01384 815571.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, Dudley’s cabinet member responsible for tourism, said: “This is another really busy programme of JAM activities for families to enjoy over October half term and I’m sure that local children will enjoy taking part in the craft activities and family fun days on offer.”

During half term the on-site studios and coffee house will be open while the usual glassmaking demonstrations in the hot glass studio will also take place.
