WITH the cold weather putting a dampener on spirits, a Wordsley laughter yoga teacher is attempting to cheer Stourbridge up with her therapeutic sessions.

Maggie Thompson will attempt to demonstrate the benefits of laughter at Wordsley Green Community Centre next Monday (February 8).

She claims: “We all lead busy, stressful lives, so it’s important that we give our bodies and minds relief and self-care.

“There are so many health benefits to be gained through laughter yoga such as changing your mood, boosting your immune system, energising your body and brain through deep breathing and laughter, connectivity with others and allowing yourself to let go of worries and negative thoughts.”

Wordsley a resident Maggie has been involved in laughter yoga for the past seven years and is now a qualified teacher after previously working for Age UK Dudley.

She added: “Laughter Yoga is invigorating and contagious - in a good way. I would invite anyone to come along and give it a try.”

The free session, taking place between 7pm and 8pm, is run on a monthly basis, but participants can give donations to help with room hire costs.
