A POPULAR Stourbridge boozer is closing its doors – but not for long!

The Lawnswood pub in Wordsley is undergoing a six-figure makeover, and will reopen with its new look on Friday, March 4.

As well as revealing a sneak preview of the restyled and modernised pub, owners Stonegate Pub Company also announced five new jobs will be taken up by the pub, with recruitment taking place during the closure period.

Owen Lowther, manager, said: “This is a major investment for The Lawnswood and I’m really excited to see the changes.

“We’ve got plenty of daily, high value offers being put in place which The Lawnswood community are going to love.”

To mark its reopening, the pub has run a competition to name the house real ale which is being brewed especially for the first night. The winner will have both the privilege of revealing the brew’s name as well as pulling the first pint.

Owen added: “Real ale is a true passion of mine which is why I’m delighted we’re introducing craft beers and increasing our range of ales as part of the new offer. Having our house beer named by a local has great heritage.”

Plans are already being put in place for the opening weekend, including a meet the brewer event, food and ale samplers, the chance to win tickets to a Wolves football match, a performance from a rising UK country music star Paris Georgia and a magical showcase.
