CBEEBIES fans had chance to rub shoulders with host Ben Cajee at this year's Wordsley Festival.

The BBC TV presenter was among the attractions at this year's fun day which was held in King George V Park in Bells Lane on Saturday July 9.

Organisers laid on a host of family-friendly entertainment and activities for the event which was put back until July this time round in the hope of attracting some sunshine after a number of washout June festivals.

Luckily the weather obliged and the event, which was also part of Black Country Festival month, saw the crowds descend.

Black Country comedy act The Fizzogs and The Empty Can band were among those waving the flag for the region.

Other attractions included a sheepdog display, mini zoo and birds of prey, dance shows, facepainting, the Thomas Jones fun fair - plus a host of stalls.

Festival committee chairman Mick Davies said: "We had a fantastic day and the sun smiled on King George V Park."

He said the event proved a great success although numerous people suggested they would like to see the traditional fun day procession revived in future and he added: "Maybe we should consider revisiting some of the old festivals past and try to get that community spirit back again."
