OUR December lunch meeting for members and guests was held at the Talbot Hotel on Tuesday.16 December.
The occasion was celebrated with a traditional Christmas dinner followed by a festive entertainment programme of seasonal songs, readings and carols.
President Bernard George was joined by members Joe Gaunt and Barry Emms to form a ‘Three Tenors‘ tribute act.
As two of the trio were retired police officers it was appropriate that their opening number should be ‘A Policeman’s Lot’. Cecil Drew sang a number of solos before leading the audience in a selection of Christmas songs and carols.
A collection for the President’s chosen charity, Prostate Cancer Fund, raised over £150.00.
Thanks were extended to our secretary Andrew Scudamore for arranging the lunch meetings during the year and to the Talbot Hotel staff for their services, particularly for the Christmas lunch at a time when the hotel was operating under very difficult circumstances.
The next social event was announced to be our outing to the Aladdin pantomime at Malvern Theatre on Friday 9 January.
Probus is the national organisation of clubs for retired professionals and business people who meet to share interests and social activities.
The Stourbridge branch holds monthly lunch meetings at the Talbot Hotel on the third Tuesday of each month.
If you are interested in joining us contact Andrew Scudamore on 01384 376314 for further details and come along as a guest.
