THE uncle of Richard Perry who ran the London Marathon in memory of his nephew has raised over £2,000 for the RNLI.

David Perry wanted to run the race for Richard after he died in a tragic boating accident off the Isle of Wight last July.

He completed the 26 miles on Sunday April 13 in six hours 32 minutes and wanted to raise the cash for the RNLI -who helped to search for Richard when the accident happened.

Richard's mum Margaret said: "David found it very hard but he was very pleased with his achievement, he said it was Richard that got him over the line.

"Up to now he has raised over £2,000 but has a few more weeks to reach his huge £5,000 target."

To help David reach his target Richard's family are holding a fish and chip supper with a silent auction on Saturday April 26 at Russells Hall social club.

Raffles prizes have been donated from Geoff Hill Electricals in Stourbridge, Panache Beauty salon of Sedgley, RNLI gift shop on the Isle of Wight, Original canvas company of the Isle of Wight, Cakeland of Great Bridge.

The money raised will go to the RNLI as it relies on voluntary donations due it receiving no money from the Government.
