DI Pugh obviously does not read letters too closely, or at least he didn’t when reading mine on the subject of lack of policing in the town centre.
If he had, he would have been aware that I had acknowledged that the police are operating on reduced budgets, and I also made mention that crimes rates had fallen. I said nothing about 24 hoursadaypolicing.SinceitappearsthatDIPugh had difficulty in understanding the thrust of my original letter let me simplify the points.
1) People contravene road traffic acts in the town.
2) There is a lack of policing in the town on a daily basis.
3) There appears to be no bookings or arrests.
4) But the Police Chief can find 8 dedicated police officers to patrol the town centre during the at night every extended week end?
Ipennedtheletterhopingthepolicechief would be stung into furnishing a comment, Some hope.
