Later today the Stourbridge Careers Day I have been organising will take place in the Glasshouse Arts Centre. Students will be able to network with a large group of excellent national and local companies and get advice on things like how to write a CV, stand out at interviews, pick the right subjects to study, and much more.

Any local students and their parents are welcome to attend, so if you would like more information please do not hesitate to get in touch with my office.

Now that the party conferences are over I have been back in Parliament and I was pleased to listen to the Minister for Europe, David Lidington MP, speak about the advantages of a referendum and the possibilities for renegotiation of powers in the meantime.

I also attended a meeting with the Foreign Office Ministers, where we discussed a range of current issues including the ongoing situation in Syria.

Yesterday, I took the opportunity to question Sir Bruce Keogh, the Medical Director of the NHS, about NHS England’s review of congenital heart services.

It was good to be able to discuss the findings of this review and its implications for our local services.

I was also pleased to join Wolverhampton University at a reception in Parliament and hear about their plans for the future.

After the Careers Day I will be joining the Stourbridge Township Council at their meeting in the Town Hall.

Tomorrow I am due to visit Ridgewood High School to meet with Head teacher, Clive Nutting, before attending a meeting with The Stourbridge Educational Trust to discuss how we can continue to improve opportunities locally for young people.

Later I will head over to the Council to see the Leader, Cllr David Sparks, and Chief Executive, John Polychronkis, with the other Dudley MPs this week.

These meetings are a chance to talk about local issues, and I have asked for business rates to be put on the agenda for discussion.

With the Tesco development nearing completion I know that many local retailers are worried about the affect this will have on them, so I want to press the Council on what they can do to help.

On Saturday I end my week in Stourbridge by opening a new florist on Coventry Street.

It is great to see new businesses coming to the area and I would like to wish the florist’s owner, Amy Fairley, the best of luck with her exciting new venture.

Finally, I am delighted to hear that the blood testing service at the Three Villages Practice in Wollaston will re-open.

I raised a petition for this service to be brought back a few weeks ago so I am delighted for residents in that area, especially older people, that we have been successful.
