Among the complaints about restricted parking, the felling of trees etc, a number of your correspondents make the valid point that Mary Stevens Park ‘belongs’ to the people of Stourbridge, thanks to the generosity of the Stevens family.
In view of this, one may feel inspired to go beyond offering advice on what should be done (by ‘someone’ – the Council?), and ask oneself what one, personally, can do to care for the park.
One area that suggests itself is litter picking.
This is a surprisingly relaxing and physically undemanding activity: one gets to have a lovely walk through our lovely park – being useful at the same time!
Any equipment needed – it is minimal – is provided.
So if any of your readers warm to the idea of helping in this way, they should simply turn up at the ‘Hub’ in the Park, where they will be warmly welcomed.
