It is now just two weeks until the referendum on Britain’s membership of the European Union (EU). As I am sure you will know, I am a passionate advocate for remaining in the EU and have written widely on the subject over the course of the campaign. You can read my views in depth on my website, http://www.margotjames.com/content/ why-i-will-vote-remain-june-23rd.

Whatever your own views on the EU, I believe it is vital that we discuss and debate all of the important issues surrounding the referendum. There has been a vast amount of information put out by both campaigns, and I know that many people are distrustful of some of the many facts and figures. The Treasury Select Committee – an independent Committee in the House of Commons featuring MPs strongly for and strongly against – produced an excellent report into both campaigns, which you can access via the link above. If you are to trust anything during this campaign, the report is a very good place to start. I have tried my best to fit as many EU-related events as I can into my diary up until the 23rd June – and I hope that many of you will attend them too.

The first takes place tomorrow in Birmingham at Newbury House – where I will be joined by Emma Reynolds MP, Birmingham Councillor Sharon Thompson and local businesswoman Cheryl Garvey for a panel discussion.

The following week I will be joined by a Senior Cabinet Minister at Chawn Hill Church, Stourbridge at 7.30pm on Thursday 16th June. It promises to be a very interesting evening with someone I believe to be one of the finest politicians in the UK. Please be aware that photographic ID will be required for entry on the night, and you will need to register by either emailing me or calling my office. I am also holding a debate at King Edward VI College for sixth-formers from local schools and colleges with the Business Minister, Anna Soubry MP. If you would like more information, or would like to attend the 16th June event, then please do get in touch with my office using the below details. Finally, I would like to welcome the newest member of my constituency team, Cllr Nicola Richards, to my office. Nicola will join Ellie at my new Stourbridge office at 1a Worcester Street. As a serving Dudley Councillor and recent Birmingham University graduate, Nicola brings a wealth of local experience to my team.

As ever, should you wish to get in touch with me, you can call my office on 01384 370574, or email me at margot.james.
