WITH reference to the letter from 'William E Gohte' of Oldswinford (Viewpoint, 12 June 2008), 102.5 The 'Bridge would like to apologise for any offence caused.
As a Community Radio Station, The 'Bridge encompasses a wide variety of presenters, all local people, all presenting a wide variety of programming. The Management of 102.5 The 'Bridge has listened back to the output to which 'Mr Gohte' refers, and appropriate action has been taken to ensure that there is not a repeat of this type of output.
Naturally we are disappointed that 'Mr Gohte' has felt the need to complain to the Stourbridge News rather than to raise the issue with us first.
We are similarly disappointed that the Stourbridge News chose to print a letter from someone with such an obviously false name - 'Bill E Goat' - and did not make even the most basic check on this. We did - there is no such person on the Electoral Register! Unlike 'Mr Gohte', we hold our hands up in public when our standards slip even momentarily - as clearly they did here.
Despite Mr Gohte's sniping, we are confident that the vast majority of our output is providing a good service for the people of Stourbridge, both in our music and speech-based programming.
We receive many texts, emails, letters and phone calls which confirm this.
Nevertheless we will continue to work with our on-air team to ensure high standards of broadcasting on 102.5 The 'Bridge.
Dr Paul Collins, Chairman - The 'Bridge Radio
