LYE Town lost their chance to close the gap on West Midland League leaders Black Country Rangers when suffering a surprise 2-1 reverse at home to Herefordshire side Wellington.
Joint-boss Darren Goodall said: “We didn’t deserve to lose the game as we hit the crossbar and post.
“But Wellington defended as though their lives depended upon it in the second half.”
Midfielder Rob Sheffield has recovered from a broken toe while striker Nicky Pugh has shaken off a back problem and could return for Saturday’s local derby at Dudley Town.
On Tuesday, hat-tricks from Ricky Anslow and Steve Weaver sealed a 6-0 thrashing of Darlaston Town.
