Four years ago I stayed at Gansevoort Miami South Beach and it was the coolest place in town with its rooftop pool parties attracting the rich and famous on a weekly basis.
It was a great time to be in Miami, Barack Obama had just won the election and to be staying at such a great hotel was wonderful.

As I prepare to head back to Miami in November to help Barry out again I discover the hotel has had mixed fortunes, it is no longer The Gansevoort anymore, owners have come and gone but after a few
years in the doldrums a new owner has bought it and has promised to sink £100m into the South Beach resort.
The Perry South Beach, as it now is called, has been bought by the Starwood Capital Group and will be totally relaunched in late 2013 with yet another rebranding which will aim to recapture and
surpass past glories.

The Perry South Beach has one of the best locations in the world taking up an entire block on Collins Avenue in one of the world's great party destinations - South Beach.
The hotel has 334 hotel rooms, 255 condo units totaling 294,000 square feet, 90,000 square feet of retail space including a 42,000 square foot David Barton Gym, three outdoor swimming pools, and
multiple indoor and outdoor food and beverage venues.
The property also includes a 26,000 square foot rooftop pool and lounge with sweeping ocean views, a 32,000 square foot elevated pool plaza and restaurant, and a 48,000 square foot private beach.
As the Perry South Beach is in transition and rebuilding its reputation this might be the perfect time for tourists to Miami to get a taste of luxury for a great deal.
