OLDSWINFORD and Stourbridge Social claimed a winning draw against neighbours Coombs Wood last Saturday.

The result keeps Oldswinford in third place in Division Two of the Worcestershire County League and leaves Coombs Wood fourth from bottom after ten games.

Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social hit 179 after being put into bat by their visitors.

Richard Milner, batting at number six, top scored for the home side with 48 before he was caught by Ian Whitmore from the bowling of Carl Whyte.

It was Whyte who had previously claimed the wickets of both Oldswinford openers Lee Nightingale (29) and David Hayward (8).

Skipper Thomas Blunt hit an important 36 before being bowled by Matthew Colwell.

In replay, Coombs Wood finished with 112-6 after 36 overs to leave with a losing draw.

Opener David Moorcroft top scored for them when hitting 34 before being trapped lbw by Waqas Ahmed.

Ahmed also claimed the wickets of both Carl Whyte (33) and Stuart Baker (10) to finish with three wickets for 20 runs from his eight overs.

Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social will now look to put more pressure on the league's top two, Burghill and Tillington and Bewdley, when they travel to take on Enville this Saturday.

Coombs Wood, who lost in the Worcestershire County League's Knock Out Cup against Worcester Nomads on Monday, will now face league action against bottom side Rushwick at home.
