STOURBRIDGE cyclist Richard Bussell successfully defended his national 10-miles time trial title last weekend.
After finishing second to Ryan Perry in the 50 and 25-miles national championships earlier this year, Bussell was determined to keep his 10-mile winner’s jersey, which he first won last year.
On an undulating course and buffeted by crosswinds, the AeroCoach rider was never headed as he finished with a time of 20 minutes 35 seconds.
He was four seconds in front of second-placed James Gullen, with Perry in third on 20:46 on the Hampshire course.
Bussell is now concentrating on retaining his national hill climb title, which will be held towards the end of October in Matlock.
