Stourbridge 0, Grantham Town 2

THE Glassboys suffered a third straight home defeat as Grantham completed a classic smash and grab raid to claim the points.

Two late goals from striker Lee Shaw was sufficient to seal victory for Grantham, while in contrast, Stourbridge created little in attack.

Shaw broke through twice in the opening two minutes, but his first effort was ruled off-side while the second forced a fine save from Glassboys goalkeeper Matt Gould, who was alert to the danger and raced off his line to save at Shaw's feet.

Stourbridge carved an opening of their own on six minutes, but Grantham goalie Kieran Preston proved equally effective when rushing off his line to smoother at the feet of new signing Luke Shearer.

But Shearer had a better opportunity to break the deadlock on 22 minutes when put in the clear by Tom Tonks, but this time the former Halesowen marksman fired wide.

Grantham appeared to step up gear after the break and Stourbridge had a real let-off on 51 minutes when a close range shot from Grantham's Danny Meadows struck Gould and rebounded back out with the 'keeper knowing little about it.

Moments later, Stourbridge striker Jordan Archer saw his header turned onto the post by Preston in a rare threat on the Grantham goal.

Shaw eventually struck the decisive goal on 82 minutes when an initial shot from Burrows rebounded back kindly for the striker to slot home from close range after Stourbridge had struggled to clear their ranks from a Grantham corner.

It should have been 2-0 on 90 minutes when Andrew Wright was put clean through but blazed wide of Stourbridge's goal with only Gould to beat.

Grantham did grab a second goal deep into stoppage time when Shaw lobbed home beyond the reach of Gould after the Stourbridge defence had been caught out pushing forward.
