DESPITE it being a quiet weekend on the racing front for Black Country Triathletes, that didn’t stop some of the juniors celebrating their success from the season.

Prizes were handed out at the West Midlands British Triathlon awards ceremony on Sunday for the West Midlands Junior Series 2017, which saw young athletes from across the region compete in a number of triathlon, duathlon and aquathlon races throughout the year.

Points were awarded based on finishing positions with their top four finishing positions giving them their final total.

Scarlett Williams won first place in the Tri Star 1 age group, Ben Lucas took first in the Tri Star 2 age group with Abi Hathaway third, while Lydia Silk took third in the youth category.

All juniors are now looking forward to the new season starting in March 2018 and are training on a weekly basis from Wombourne Leisure Centre.

Any juniors looking to join the club would be welcome from the age of seven upwards and full details regarding junior membership can be found on the club website at www.blackcountrytriathletes.com.
