In the Paycare Open Age Division it was the clash of the bottom two sides, Delph Runners and CT Rangers who were both looking to secure their first points of the season.  

CT Rangers took a 2-0 lead through Elliot O’Brian Smith and Tyler Siddaway.  CT Rangers seemed well on course for victory, but Delph had other ideas.

First Luke Cole hit home from outside the box before goalkeeper Daniel Kennedy’s long up field kick bounced over the CT Rangers keeper to take the half time score to 2-2.  

Within a minute of the restart Paul Shaw beat two defenders then lobbed the goalkeeper to put Delph in the lead before Paul Shaw secured the points in the 88th minute with a long free kick well placed and in the net off the post.  

An exciting game ended with a 4-2 win to Delph Runners.

Aaron Hannah Club Secretary said, “A big improvement, starting to gel as a team and deserved to fight back to win the game, the future looks brighter”.

Black Country Blades made it 4 wins out of 4 games to top the league after beating Bloxwich 6-2.  

Jack Hill opened the scoring after 10 minutes when he headed home a great cross from Tyler Goodyear.  

Connor Stokes increased the lead on 20 minutes driving the ball in the bottom left hand corner from 30 yards.  2-0 at ht after end to end action but no further chances taken.

After 50 minutes midfielder Connor Potts scored directly from a corner in his first game back after a 6 month injury layoff.  

He added a second 5 minutes later with a 35 yard screamer which nestled in the top corner.  On the hour mark prolific scorer Tyler Goodyear made it 5-0.  

Bloxwich hit back with a 5 minute spell of pressure, scoring twice.  With 10 minutes to go Connor Potts completed his hattrick to make 6-2 when he rounded the keeper and slotted home.

Secretary Josh Deakin commented, “An impressive performance all over the pitch, our star man today was Connor Potts, great to have him back”.

AFC Goldthorn pulled off a surprise win against table toppers Brandhall Colts having never beaten them before.  

Goldthorn took the lead after 15 minutes with a right footed shot 10 yards out from Greg Corbett following a pass from Captain Brad Lewis.  

On 65 minutes, after a period of controlled possession, Kie Matthews shot from the edge of the box with the Brandhall keeper helping it over the line.  Brandhall came back strongly and pulled 1 back with a penalty converted by Carl Armstrong in the 71st minute.  

Goldthorn held on to run out deserved winners 2-1.

In the Concentric Property Overs 30’s Division AFC Broadlands and Casual Vets served up a 9 goal thriller.  

Vets took a 5 minute lead through Jimmy Scragg.  Russel Ambrose made it 1-1, Ash Smith and Jimmy Scragg extended the lead to 3-1 to the Vets before Chris Fowler (2) pulled it level 3-3 at half time.  

Casual Vets came out all guns blazing for the second half, Ash Smith slotting home from 6 yards to regain the lead.  Fitness started to tell with goals from Ben Kirby and Callum Gore giving AFC Broadlands a hard fought 5-4 victory.

In the Staffs County TB Williamson Cup, Warstones Wanderers Old Boys comfortably won 7-2 against Penkridge FC.  Goals coming from Ryan Bradshaw 2, Josh Carvel, Nathan Rose Laing, Paul Harris, Ansell Green and a Micah Williams screamer.
