JON Higgins says Dudley Kingswinford will resist the temptation to rest players at South Leicester this Saturday.

Second-placed DK are already guaranteed a home play-off game against either Rossendale or Chester ahead of their final fixture in National Three Midlands.

But while little rides on the result, Higgins has promised his side will start the game at full strength.

The player-coach is eager to gain revenge on a South Leicester side who beat DK on the opening day of the season, while also maintaining momentum ahead of the play-off clash.

Higgins said: “We will be going into this full on.

“We will pick our best side and try and win the game because we owe them on and we need to keep up our momentum going into the play-off game.

“You can’t go into games half-heartedly, especially in rugby.

“I think we are the kind of side who need to keep playing well. We have got better and better with each game so we can’t afford to slack off now.”

DK showed no signs of slowing down last Saturday as they demolished Syston 81-19.

A second-half blitz of seven tries in 17 minutes saw the visitors blown away, with the hosts crossing the whitewash 12 times in a performance which left Higgins purring.

He said: “The way we are attacking at the moment is proving too much for some teams.

“On Saturday we were very good. I didn’t quite realise just how many points we had scored.”

By 5pm on Saturday DK should know which side from Three North will be making the trip to Heathbrook for the play-off on April 28.

Rossendale remain the most likely opponents but their 25-24 home defeat to Beverley means Chester, three points behind, can still steal second place.

A trip to Waterloo is Rossendale’s task on Saturday, while Chester host champions Darlington Mowden Park.
